About the Website:
What even is this site?
This website is mostly a form of documenting my interests and fandom indulgences. Because it’s a passion project, I hope that there will always be something new I’d like to add on to it so that it’s never truly finished.
Origin story:
I had my first brush with HTML and CSS on AO3, styling fanfics. It whet my appetite and intrigued me, so I decided I wanted to learn more about coding. So what did I do? I opened a Neocities account before really knowing anything and used templates. One big issue was that I want every page on my site to look totally different from one another, but whenever my n00b hands poked at the template code to style it a bit different, the whole page would get wrecked immediately. So nearly a month after first creating the site, I set out on a mini-quest to actually learn and understand HTML, CSS and JavaScript so I could code the whole thing from scratch.
How I learned some coding:
- HTML, CSS & JavaScript in easy steps by Mike McGrath: This was a very easy to understand introduction and resource. Made a lot of things click for me. Don’t know if it’s the best pdf on the subject I could have picked up but I had to begin somewhere, plus I like having an offline reference.
- w3docs was also super helpful. I kept coming across words like “deprecated” so I looked it up and was lucky enough to find this website full of begginer tutorials.
- Kevin Powell’s YouTube CSS beginner tutorials.
-
- Code-boxx HTML and CSS tutorials.
- mdn web docs: Documentation and clear explainations for what everything is and how it works.
- This tutorial about how to embed fonts.
Media Credits:
I did make the header and a site button and doodled on a template to make the cover picture for the site, but otherwise none of the media featured on this site was made by me unless explicitly stated as such. I got a lot of my graphic assets from freepik, pixabay, vecteezy, icon8, other stock media sites, and generally toggling image search to only show images licensed as free to share, all while double checking that the images were human-made and licensed for non-commercial use. Fonts I used can be found on Dafont as free for personal use.
About the Webmistress:
What’s a Necroath?
A portmanteau of “necrotic” and “oath,” and the on-line moniker of yours truly.
Origin story:
I began haunting this earth on May 21st of 1996—I don’t really care for astrology, but I always picked Gemini over Taurus when I read the horoscope articles on magazines. When I was a tween I wanted to be goth so bad, but my parents wouldn’t allow any angsty moodiness or non-preppy clothing (I managed to get jeans and tshirts by my teens and that felt like peak style to me at the time). However, I was completely free to get my goth fix through media, and horror remains one of my favorite genres to this day.
Base of operations:
I’m Venezuelan. I learned English mainly to watch TV without subtitles and read stuff online.
Skills and abilities:
- Dark Arts (I am kind of rusty on the Graphic Arts, though, but I can doodle).
- Self-taught hand sewing and embroidery. Not enough to make clothes from scratch, but enough to patch up a ripped up bedsheet ghost.
- Could beat the grim reaper at a casual chess game. (I’m barely at ELO 600, death is just really bad at this game.)
- White-belt-level Webmastery.
Goals:
World Wide Web Domination.
Right now I mostly want to get good at coding and generally do online stuff that isn’t endlessly scrolling the same handful of big corporate sites.
Likes:
- Music with a fast tempo.
- Animals, even the ones I personally find ugly or scary.
- Fonts! I love fonts! I love collecting fonts!
- Staying up late, alone in my room.
- Writing and doodling in my many, many notebooks.
- Learning things! I pretty much never studied when I was in school, but found a passion for recreational self-teaching later on. Better late than never, I guess!
- Reading. Fiction and nonfiction, books and comics.
- Animation of all kinds. I prefer watching 2D over 3D because drawings that move never stoping looking magical to me, but I don’t get the hate old 3D animations get. I much prefer rubbery-looking to this realistic CGI hellscape.
- Spending too much time online.
- Ad-blockers and Piracy.
- The history of mundane everyday life.
- Science explained in simple terms.
- Psychology and criminology (I watched a lot of Criminal Minds during my formative years, and I’ve read John E. Douglas’ books, but I mostly avoid True Crime and its fandom).
Food and drink:
- Iced or hot, black or green, tea with lemon (though I guess native English speakers would refer to it as “lime”) is my drink of choice.
- Puff pastry with cheese and spinach.
- Sushi, paella, fish filets, and seafood. I only dislike fish when it’s on pizza or otherwise has cheese on it.
- Olives! I was too young to remember this, but I’m told that my parents took me to an Italian restaurant when I was a toddler. There, I plucked one of the olives off the pizza my parents were having, but to their surprise I spat out the pit before they could worry about me choking on it. I then proceeded to repeat the process with every olive on their pizza. It’s been my favorite pizza topping and casual snack ever since.
Souls.
- Crunchy chips. Platain, potato, cassava, corn… It’s all good to me.
Top 10 Dislikes:
- Itty-bitty font-size, lack of paragraph breaks, and anything else that makes things hard to read.
- People who kiss animals on the mouth. That’s gross. Stop it!
- Generative AI. Hate calling it Artificial “Intelligence” at all.
- FanFiction about real, living people. I find it creepy.
- The obnoxious “commit sewer-slide” style of self-censorship popularized by TikTok. Say the actual words you want to say or don’t say anything.
- Capitalism and big corporations, especially the beauty industry complex (makeup, restrictive clothing, cosmetic surgeries, total body hair removal, and other unreasonable societal expectations imposed on women).
- Misogyny/racism/homophobia/ableism and misogynistic/racist/homophobic/ableist slurs.
- Religion as a whole. Even the new age ones that don’t market themselves as religions (like the law of attraction).
- Influencers, self-help gurus, any kind of coach other than the sports kind, and all grifters of that ilk.
- People who never really form their own opinions or take a stand, just move with the crowd. If you see something being wholly condemned by the masses, look into the if and why for yourself! Don’t leave it to word of mouth.
If you take issue with any of that you might not like me or some of the things I might say on this site, which is fine and you’re still welcome to hang around. I don’t really care too much.

Please save my button and upload to your own site! Or you can also just copy paste the link, if that’s what you want. If you do link me, let me know on my profile and I’ll add you here!

Site log and to-do:
None of my jpeg files worked for some reason, but I converted them to png and everything got fixed. Feeling accomplished that I managed to make a homepage that does not completely suck! Next step is to get started on the rest of the site:
- Web Surfing page status: Picked a vaporwave aesthetic. Got plans for the layout. Have collected gifs. Still need to organize list of links, and actually code the page.
- Fanfiction page status: inexistent.
- Writing Reference page status: Want it to look like an old-timey newspaper. Got some vintage newspaper ads and decided on a simple three column layout with a brown palette.
- E-shrines page status: Many ideas. Many, many, too many. No actual productivity, though.
- Notes page status: Perhaps obviously I am leaning towards using paper textures on a corkboard.
- Guestbook page status: looking into whether to make one from scratch or use a free service.
